Softball Recreational Divisions

Instructional PreK 4 – 1st Grade

Players of the Instructional Girls softball team include girls from PreK 4 (entering Kindergarten in the next fall) -1st grade. Emphasis will be on fundamentals of the game as players are shown the basics of hitting, throwing, catching and base running within a framework of teamwork and sportsmanship.

  • 3 innings with a 1 hour time limit
  • Games on Fridays and Sundays
  • Pitching: Coach Pitch

Minors 2nd – 3rd grade

Players of the Minor Girls softball team include girls from 2nd and 3rd grade. Minors Softball is a natural transition from Instructional. Players and coaches share pitching responsibilities according to the rules. Emphasis will be on fundamentals of the game as players practice the basics of hitting, throwing, catching and base running.

  • A game consists of 5 innings with a 1 hour and 45 min time limit.
  • Games will be played on Mondays, Wednesdays or Saturdays
  • Coach pitch inning 1 & 2 (5 run limit) girl pitch inning 3 & 4 (2 run limit) coach pitch inning 5
  • Pitching distance is 32’.

Majors 4th – 5th grade

Players of the Major Girls softball team include girls from 4th and 5th grade. Emphasis will be on continuing to learn the fundamentals of the game, but more standard softball rules are introduced.

  • A game consists of 6 innings with a 1 hour and 45 min time limit.
  • Games will be played Tuesdays, Thursdays or Saturdays
  • Pitching: Full player pitch with a maximum of 3 innings each
  • Pitching Distance 35’
  • Focus on skill advancement into USSSA fast pitch rules.

Seniors 6th -8th grade

Players of the Seniors Girls softball team include girls from 6th - 8th grade. Emphasis will be on the fundamentals of the game while preparing them to play at a higher level.

  • Most standard softball rules are used.
  • Games are 6 innings.
  • Games will be played Tuesdays, Thursday or Saturdays
  • Pitching distance to 40’
